Malibu Farm Restaurant

ROSSEEL STUDIO was asked to upgrade the restaurant design delivered in the summer of 2019. The well-known and respected farm-to-table purveyor - founded by Helene Henderson - made its way from Malibu to the seaport district offering California-style dining against the backdrop of one of Manhattan’s most impressive views of the Brooklyn Bridge. ASR chose to add some personality and texture by diversifying the material & colour palette and visually differentiating the different zones of the restaurant (the bar, grab & go counter and dining room). The lighting was adjusted by L’Observatoire International, with whom ASR designed a custom shade to soften the lighting of the existing pendants.

The bar with Brooklyn Bridge views received a textured tile face in a pale blue, where the dining room backwalls are cladded with a hand painted sunset surf view of Malibu beach. These murals have wood fins breaking up the image that spreads the full length of the dining rooms.
